Room for Meditation has been designed to help you understand meditation, why meditate, the benefits of meditation and to provide you with some of the basic techniques.

What exactly is meditation? It seems that so many people nowadays are hooked up with this form of activity. By definition, meditation is often used to describe the individual's state of intense attention on an object of awareness or thought. The individual tries to turn his or her attention inward. This is usually practiced in the eastern religions but now even the western culture is already involved in such activity.

Meditation is simple to define. Meditation is a form of mind control which allows us to still the mind so that it becomes silent and relaxes. Mediation and acquiring this silence takes practice and in the early stages our minds wonder from one thing to the next. Most of those who begin to meditate spend most of the meditation ask themselves in the silence whether they are doing it right because they aren’t feeling anything. Meditation explained we can now move on to why learn to meditate.

People want to practice meditation so that they can focus their mind to God for their personal development, to attain peace of mind, and to be healthier.

Today, one of the most helpful ways to relax is through meditation. Although meditation have been practiced thousands of years ago, you have to consider that recent studies have found and has proof that meditation can indeed relieve stress and give you that extra boost of energy you need.

Meditations can completely relax your body and mind and it can also make your brain more alert and make your heart relax. Meditation can completely make you feel refreshed and get you ready for another batch of work. It can also help you block out any distractions that may come across your way.

Many people world wide meditate. According to researchers there is one meditation practice that can be used by everyone, meditation is personal and you develop your own style and practice as you learn.

The first type of meditation is that of concentrative meditation.  In this type of meditation, the focus is on the way that you breathe, on an image, or on a sound.  Sound, or mantra, is often used.  By using these tools, so to speak, you are able to clear the mind and allow for greater awareness as well as clarity.

Mindful meditation is quite unlike that of concentrative.  If we use the example of a lens to help show the difference, you can see this.  In concentrative meditation, you are concentrating on one single thing, focusing the lens on that one element, like breathing or something in the room that you are in.

Meditation is not a long drawn out process, it can take as little as 5 minutes a day and can be done in a quite room or while you walk, etc. It takes time to learn how to still the mind but the benefits you will achieve from it will support you into the future.

Where can you meditate? All you need to do is to find a space where you can have some quiet time for 5 to 10 minutes. This does not have to be a separate room you can do meditation sitting in a quite space in the garden or going for a walk in a tranquil place. However, before you do this you need to learn some of the basics

Always wear comfortable loose fitting clothes because tight clothes will make you feel uncomfortable. If you are sitting make sure it’s a comfortable chair as this can affect your concentration. If you are walking wear comfortable shoes and try not to walk where there are you will be distracted by plants or insects.

Sit comfortably and close your eyes. Start at your toes and slowly imagine every part of your body relax as you work from your toes to your head. Imagine shaking out the stress and tension from each part of your body. Do this for 10 minutes and then record your experiences in your meditation journal.

You can practice this as many times as to wish.

Learning how to imagine and visualise is the second step. The easiest way to do this is to concentrate on something - I use a candle meditation to do this.

Download the candle meditation music.

Sit comfortably, take some deep breaths and close your eyes. Imagine a candle. Start at the base of the candle and describe it in your mind. What colour is your candle? How thick is your candle? How long is it? Is it lit?

Focus on the candle what can you see and what do you feel?

The third step is to develop an awareness of self and what makes you tick.

Sit comfortably and breathe deeply letting the tension out of your body. Close your eyes and focus your attention inward. Watch the thoughts which pas through your mind, pleasant and unpleasant; don’t hang on to them just let them pass.

Now ask your self the question “Who is watching?” You will begin to connect to your inner self.

ou Self talk is probably the most POWERFUL concept in the whole of personal development.

An important part of meditation is to learn how to control your self talk- what you say to yourself and how you say it. Controlling your self talk will help you to control the mind and learn to still the mind to help you to meditate more effectively.

The Secrets of Self Talk will help you to discover how to “reprogram” your brain, by changing the way you talk to yourself. Imagine stumbling across a SECRET KEY that could genuinely UNLOCK the potential of your mind – and suddenly allow everything to fall into place.
